hospital on track to transform local healthcare
Work on the new $330 million Eurobodalla Regional Hospital is progressing and is on track to deliver expanded and enhanced health services to communities throughout the region, from north of Batemans Bay to south of Narooma.
Member for Bega Dr Michael Holland toured the site to inspect progress for the new hospital, which will significantly improve access to high-quality healthcare for the local community.
The new hospital will include new services such as the region’s first paediatrics unit, a new eight bed intensive care unit and a new MRI service.
It will also feature a new emergency department with larger capacity than the current combined emergency services of Moruya and Batemans Bay.
There will be the addition of mental health beds for short term care to deliver high-quality, contemporary and accessible health care closer to home.
Since construction started in June this year, the new access road and future hospital car parking area have been built, bulk site excavation is nearing completion, the foundations for the main hospital building have been dug and concrete pouring for the footings is underway.
Construction activity is set to increase in the new year with dozens of skilled workers joining the team, including concreters, form workers, crane operators, electricians, plumbers and other skilled trades.
The project is expected to support around 550 direct jobs with the potential to support many hundreds of indirect jobs over the life of the project.
The Eurobodalla Regional Hospital is expected to be completed in 2027.
